- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆I am so disappointed in OCCU. I wanted to love them like I have for so long but what a mess they made of a simple home equity loan. 5 months later, the ineptitude is staggering and has ranged from not reading loan applications and being surprised over the phone about things that were clearly written on application. loosing copies of my personal taxes, talking to the next person up to point out that agent is over his head and being reassured that they will pay careful attention and then dealing with a confused agent again reassuring me that everything is fine when in fact, it is not. Appraiser messes up report and they submit it anyway after telling him it was wrong.....and three weeks later he is told to fix it! Again agent says everything is fine and it will only take a week......and I am cutting my losses and paying for appraiser's botched job and going to a big bank who can do it all in a month for free. All this for a house that is easily worth three times the requested amount as what we wanted to do was pay down the principal and reduce our payment. We both have credit scores over 800 and very little debt with more than enough money in various parts of this bank to pay off the loan entirely! I am embarrassed that they use to be U O's bank and after being with them 40 years, I am done. This is not my first snafu with them, and you can bet it is my last.By Kris Vroom, September 19, 2017

Be honest and communicate and recognize that it is likely your own (In my case it was) fault you need a lender such as this and be thankful you can get some credit at any interest rate. Not perfect but workable...certainly helps if you read your contract and have negotiating skills. Money fixes everything.By Chris Williams, September 15, 2017
